Hall News Dec 2014

There is a lot going on at the moment so we thought you might like an update on the hall’s news. It currently looks wonderful all decorated for Christmas and we are delighted that bookings are up since the refurbishment (we even have a booking on Christmas Day). This is great news as we have a number of maintenance works planned for the new year that we need to fund!

We have had an issue with condensation round the windows in the hall – caused by all the lovely new insulation and warmth and the fact that the stone window surrounds are acting as a thermal bridge. We’ve also located a slow leak on the roof which has been increasing the moisture levels in the hall. Having taken some specialist advice we plan to install some extra venting and treat the stone surrounds in the New Year. In the meantime Eles Building Services have very kindly donated a dehumidifier to deal with the issue and keep everything dry. They are also going to fix the leak so a big thank you to them.

The Hall’s electrical wiring has just been surveyed and there are a number of works we need to undertake to fix some issues and bring the wiring up to current regulations. A lot of these are in the kitchen area so we are delaying re-painting the kitchen until that has been dealt with. We’ve kept Ally Mallinson (who does a great job with all our maintenance) busy by replacing the cracked wall in the men’s toilets instead and it will get a new coat of paint while he is at it.

We have also done some work to the main hall floor and painted the edges, fixed the leak in the kitchen roof, insulated the entrance doors and installed a new automatic light to come on when you first enter.

We are working hard to update the hall and make it a venue the village can be proud of. Please do consider us for any event you are having. The more events we have the more we can achieve.
